Non-probabilistic approaches for non-deterministic dynamic FE analysis of imprecisely defined structures

چکیده
The objective of this paper is to give a survey on the use of non-probabilistic methods for non-deterministic numerical analysis. It consists of a general theoretical discussion on the use of non-deterministic concepts in numerical analysis, an overview of the basic properties of possible implementations of the non-probabilistic finite element code, and finally a discussion on their possible applications in a typical product design process. In the first part of the paper, a classification of different types of non-deterministic properties is presented. Based on the nature of these different classes of model properties, it is discussed to what degree each of these fits in the framework of either a probabilistic or a non-probabilistic concept. In the second part of the paper, an overview of possible implementations of the non-probabilistic finite element procedure is presented. It is shown how the deterministic finite element procedure is translated to a non-probabilistic counterpart. The paper then focuses on the application of these non-probabilistic concepts for design purposes. The use of the probabilistic and non-probabilistic approaches is projected into a typical design process.

An automated procedure for interval and fuzzy finite ele- ment analysis
This paper describes an automated procedure to model imprecisely defined structures and solve them using the interval and fuzzy finite element methods (IFEM and FFEM). The IFEM and FFEM procedures both require an uncertain FE model as input. Since none of the available preprocessors can generate uncertain FE models, the first part of the research focuses on creating an uncertain FE model based ...
متن کاملRobust optimal multi-objective controller design for vehicle rollover prevention
Robust control design of vehicles addresses the effect of uncertainties on the vehicle’s performance. In present study, the robust optimal multi-objective controller design on a non-linear full vehicle dynamic model with 8-degrees of freedom having parameter with probabilistic uncertainty considering two simultaneous conflicting objective functions has been made to prevent the rollover. The obj...
متن کاملInterval Uncertainty Quantification in Numerical Models using Dynamic Fuzzy Finite Element Analysis
Uncertainty and variability are always to some extent present in numerical simulations. Especially in the model definition phase, lack of information, scatter in material properties or environmental conditions imply that a designer should incorporate the possible effects of this non-determinism into the design procedure. This can be achieved by incorporation of the non-determinism in the numeri...
متن کاملModel identification and dynamic analysis of ship propulsion shaft lines
Dynamic response analysis of mechanical structures is usually performed by adopting numerical/analytical models. Finite element (FE) modeling as a numerical approach plays an important role in dynamic response analysis of complex structures. The calculated dynamic responses from FE analysis are only reliable if accurate FE models are used. There are many elements in real mechanical structures w...
متن کاملComparative Study of Random Matrices Capability in Uncertainty Detection of Pier’s Dynamics
Because of random nature of many dependent variables in coastal engineering, treatment of effective parameters is generally associated with uncertainty. Numerical models are often used for dynamic analysis of complex structures, including mechanical systems. Furthermore, deterministic models are not sufficient for exact anticipation of structure’s dynamic response, but probabilistic models...
